Logo

The Climate Capital logo was designed on a pale blue dot as a daily reminder of our why. The following quotes are excerpts from Carl Sagan's book Pale Blue Dot that provide inspiration for our logo.

“The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.”

“[It’s] our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”

Origin

“It was after helping launch the global non-profit Kiva.org in 2006 that I decided to focus on climate. My experience at Kiva was life changing as it was there that I realized I wanted to be at the intersection of technology & impact. After months of reflection, I embraced 'climate change' as the issue to focus on as it would exacerbate so many other issues, from poverty to geopolitics, education to disease, food supply to basic human happiness.

It wasn't until 2010 that I was able to focus full-time on climate when I started a company to introduce shoppers to more sustainable products (article I wrote on why). I quickly realized that most people didn't view climate change as a pressing issue, so I wrote a novel about a post-climate change future, produced a TV pilot about rising sea levels in the Maldives, and co-founded an accelerator for companies at the intersection of tech & climate, all to raise awareness & drive action.

In those years I'd begun syndicating deals on AngelList, and in 2015 I was able to syndicate an allocation in my first climate deal, Mosaic. It wasn't until 2018 that 'cleantech 2.0' (as some call it) got going, allowing me to launch Climate Capital. Since then, I've invested in over 100 climate companies across industries, backed by some of the best investors in the world — and in so many ways we're just getting started.”
